Wooo, what detail!!!! How long was your exposure? The moon is far from cliche' - infact I think we often take it for granted!

@Michelle Bialowas: My exposure was actually pretty fast...1/200. I think the trick is to not take a long exposure so as to prevent the light coming from it from obstructing the detail on the moon.
